WESTBURY is getting ready to celebrate Christmas this year with a winter market, a concert full of special performances, Santa’s grotto and the ever-popular Christmas lights switch on – all taking place on Saturday 3rd December.

Live entertainment will begin in the afternoon in the Market Place, leading up to the Christmas lights switch-on between 6.30pm and 7pm.
There will be more than 30 stalls to browse and it will be a great opportunity to pick up a Christmas gift for your friends, family or even your work colleague.
Westbury Town Council, who have organised the event, say, “Westbury continues to build its reputation as one of the best destinations for events in Wiltshire. This is illustrated in some part by the fact that performers seen on CBeebies and Britain’s Got Talent will be at the event this year.
“Christmas in Westbury will be lit up with a brilliant market of more than 30 stalls, all selling perfect stocking fillers like hats, gloves and scarfs, crystal jewellery and festive plants. There will also be stunning Christmas wreaths available to buy.
“So come along and grab those last-minute gifts in Westbury High Street, while live music plays, including primary school choirs (1pm), Bratton Silver Band (2.15pm), Westbury Choral (3pm) and The Rock Choir (3.20pm).
“Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, Dennis Demille, will be singing his array of Christmas show tunes on the stage at 2.55pm and then again in the High Street at 4pm.
“Kids can enjoy a huge children’s area, with a mammoth inflatable slide, funfair rides, circus workshops, puppet shows and, of course, Father Christmas in his Market Place grotto. The Dangerous Dave puppet show, as seen on CBeebies, will be performing his hilarious set from 2pm in the Market Place.
“After Dennis Demille opens the stage, live music will include local band Open Road, the PSG choir and Concrete Prairie. The final act playing us up until the lights switch on is the Will Blake Band, with a set list full of your favourite classics.”
Deputy mayor of Westbury, cllr Mike Sutton said, “Westbury Town Council puts on a number of events throughout the year for the benefit of residents, including the Soap Box Derby and Chilli Fest. Last but by no means least is the Christmas lights switch-on and Christmas celebration, taking place on Saturday 3rd December.
“As usual there will be entertainment and stalls, plus Santa’s grotto and many other activities for people to get stuck into. All are welcome and more details can be found on Facebook or the council website.”
