Creative sessions to relaunch for older men in Westbury

Another set of weekly creative sessions for men aged 65 and over will begin at Westbury Library next month.  

The free sessions will start on Monday 14th September and run every Monday from 5pm to 6.30pm. 

“Those attending the sessions get to enjoy lively conversations around relevant topics to the group, meet other men who are potentially in similar situations and try their hand at creative writing, under the safe and supportive guidance of professional facilitators,” said Rebecca Seymour, creative producer at Celebrating Age Wiltshire, which is running the sessions. 

“This isn’t a chat group, but a discussion and activity group for those who want to take up a new activity or meet some new like-minded men in later life.” 

The first round of these creative sessions launched in Westbury in April of this year following the success of similar groups in Wiltshire. Participants described them as “rewarding” and “enjoyable”. 

One participant said, “It has done wonders for my self-confidence, self-esteem and positivity. I am delighted that this will spur me on to further efforts of creativity and self-expression.” 

The sessions are open to all men over the age of 65. Free tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. 

Rebecca said, “If you’d like to give it a go, come along to the first session where you’ll be met by a relaxed friendly facilitator, with no pressure to speak or participate, but just maybe listen and find out more.”
