TWO brothers from Westbury will be throwing themselves in at the deep end next month, to raise money for two charities close to their hearts.
Alfie and Charlie Walker will be jumping out of a boat at Portishead Marina and rescued by the Newfoundland rescue dogs, all to raise money for Horseworld and The Newfound Friends.
Alfie said, “We both love all horses, ponies, donkeys and dogs so it seemed right that we bravely take on this challenge as well as doing it because it’s something we love. I am really proud that my brother wants to take part in this as for him it’s a really huge personal challenge.”
Alfie’s and Charlie’s mum, Hayley Waker said, “Both boys are really excited, Alfie is not nervous at all but Charlie is very nervous although he’s staying focused on the fundraising to keep his mind off it.
“Both boys follow Horseworld and noticed Horseworld were looking for volunteers to take on this fundraising challenge, they are both such daredevils and love dogs so this challenge really appealed to them. Alfie has loved Horseworld ever since the Wadworth Shire Horse Tom retired there in 2010 when Alfie was five years-old . His fundraising efforts all began with him raising money for Tom who is sadly no longer with us but it was then that he realised he could help all the horses, ponies and donkeys there and his passion just grew and grew.
“Both boys have also raised money for abandoned Alaskan Malamutes and they are always thinking up ways in which they might create their next mission. Their fundraising goal is £70 each so £140 in total which they are already very close to reaching so they are really pleased. As well as the justgiving page there are paper sponsor forms so I am sure once the 14th comes they would have gone over their goal which I know they will both be so happy about.
“We are all really proud of both the boys, we all wait and wonder when they will spring the next mission on us as this one was overdue!”
