People who want to know more about dementia should pop into Westbury library this week where a display of information, specialist books and literature will be on offer.
The area board and the community area partnership have got together with community groups, the NHS and Alzheimer’s UK to launch a dementia awareness campaign in the Westbury area. From Tuesday 5 May the exhibition will be in the library. There are also plans to house a similar display in the White Horse Health Centre.
Also on display at the library will be a collection of books that are part of an innovative scheme in Wiltshire which sees patients prescribed self-help books by GPs and other health practitioners to help cope with dementia.
The book scheme is run in partnership with Alzheimer’s Support and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The books have been chosen by doctors, psychologists and counsellors from those which have proved useful to patients in similar schemes across the country.
