A PUBLIC exhibition is to be held into proposals for 220 homes on the edge of Westbury on 5th and 6th July.
Developers are keen to receive feedback from members of the public about their plans for the 22.5-acre site between The Mead, the railway line and the A350 Trowbridge Road.
The consultation event takes place at The Laverton Hall, Bratton Road, Westbury on Friday 5th July, from 11.00am to 8.00pm and on Saturday 6th July from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
A spokesman for planning consultants AMEC, based in Shrewsbury, said it was essential to take local views on board as the proposals go forward, and it is hoped that as many people as possible will attend the exhibition when experts will be on hand to answer questions.
He said, “We want to understand what will work best for the people of Westbury before we go any further. We’d also like to work with the local community to see how best we can contribute in terms of services.”
The proposals have been presented to Westbury’s Area Board, and an outline planning application is due to be submitted to Wiltshire Council in August by landowners Gloucester Land Company Ltd. They include a range of house types and sizes, 30% of which would be affordable.
Access would be from The Mead. There would also be pedestrian and cycle links towards the Co-Op supermarket and Bitham Brook Primary School.
Open space forms 35% of the scheme and includes two children’s play areas, drainage ponds, landscaping and hedgerows.
A Section 106 arrangement would provide a significant contribution towards local services such as education and other community projects, all of which would be the subject of discussion with the local community.
