Westbury notched a vital win against fellow strugglers Devizes with a determined all round performance.
The success was highlighted by goals from defenders Nathan Hallett-Young and Marc Scammell while Josh Ferguson turned in a man of the match debut performance.
For the most part there was a lack of quality on show from both sides, however every time Ferguson got the ball he was a real threat to the hosts and Matt Tilley in the home goal made three excellent first half saves.
Devizes didn’t create anything until near half time and when they did they found Charlie Heydon matching his opposite number’s achievements with a few fine pieces of goalkeeping.
There was more action after half time and Heydon did superbly to deny James Turner when he shot through a crowded penalty area. Ferguson was the inspiration behind the opening goal on 58 when his left footed effort was deflected for a corner which Mark Young took and Hallett-Young towered above his marker to head into the top corner!
Town drew level 10 minutes later when a set piece played into the box found its way to Brad Whitbread who prodded it into the net.
Play continued to be mostly scrappy and the winning goal on 81 summed up the mood; Ferguson’s drilled free kick was fumbled by Tilley and Scammell scrambled the ball over the line!
A fine move between Dan Moore and Mark Young set up Ferguson who seemed set to score a deserved goal, however he only found the side netting.
Devizes managed to create one opening to snatch a late point and Heydon produced a great fingertip save to deny Rory Collins.
