THIS year’s annual Dilton Marsh Flower & Handicraft Show, held in the Memorial Hall on August 15th has been hailed a great success.
Liz Lee reports, “More and more talent was displayed and enjoyed by members of the public who poured in to view the wonderful display of exhibits while enjoying refreshments and socializing with friends. The afternoon ended with the presentation of cups and the added excitement of an auction of delicious and colourful produce.
“The successful entrants were; Elspeth Landers, Pam Good, Pat Nowell, Liz Lee, Eunice Stride, Pam Jones, Sara Honor, Rose Fitzsimons, Maureen Flynn, Paula Carr, Hilda Watts, Martin Honor, Heather Burton, Ruth Seelig, Lucas Wint, Hallie Wint, Ethan Landers, Sheila Stanley, Sam Landers, Brian Fitzsimons, Helen Jones, Priscilla Gray, Penny Birstingl, Sonja Harris, Bob Lee and Christopher Good.
“Successful group entrants were Paula Carr, Benita Browne and June Edgecombe. Eunice Stride, Jane Brake, Sue Hill and Pauline Loader. Sheila Stanley, Karina Pullman and Mickey Fitzpatrick.
“The WI Challenge Plate was awarded to the Church Flower Group, Dot Edolls, Hilda Watts, Jenny Denton, Christine Laker and Sheila Whitehead for their depiction of ‘A crafted Miniature Garden’.
“Chris Good was the winner of the John Irving Cup for Fruit and Vegetable Classes and also the Dilton Amateur Gardening Club Cup for the most points gained overall.
“The Mead Nursery Cup was awarded to Pat Nowell for the most points gained in Flowers and Floral Art.
“Maureen Flynn was the winner of the Joan Bracken Cup for the most points in the Cookery classes.
“The Iris Hares Cup was awarded to Sheila Stanley for the most points gained in Handicrafts and Photography.”
