Our Annual General Meeting was held at the home of Jocelyn and Clive Short on Thursday January 5th.
A review of 2016 which had been the 140th anniversary of Mother’s Union as well as the 90th birthday of our patron Her Majesty the Queen, reminded us just how much the Mother’s Union is doing around the world.
Do you see the MU as a group of elderly ladies making cakes and pouring tea whilst wearing a selection of flowery hats? Well. we are much more than that!
There are four million members in 83 countries, over 1,100 locally relevant projects and more than 500,000 beneficiaries.
The Virtual Baby Project began again at the beginning of January in Matravers School, being one such locally relevant project.
The Mother’s Union theme for 2017, is ‘Faith in Action’. To quote the bible, James chapter 2, verse 17, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
