DILTON Marsh mother’s union had their annual “Quiet Day” on Thursday June 8th at the home of John Prince in Heywood.
It was led by the Revd. Margaret Davis and joined by friends from the Westbury All Saints Mother’s Union.
Enid Holbrow from the union said “The theme of the day was ‘Hymns’ and their words, whether they were written by a woman or a man and if so how they differed in content. By saying the words of familiar hymns instead of singing them (although we did sing some) we thought about the words and if we thought the words of really ancient hymns had any significance in today’s world.
We agreed that a mixture of old and modern was a help to both newcomers to church life as well as a comfort to elderly people who had fond memories of hymns learned as children.
Rain prevented all but the very hardy from venturing to explore John’s lovely garden with its well placed areas of contemplation.
