Murders, erotic art, affairs of the heart, elopement, untimely death and paranormal experiences.
These were are all featured in a fascinating talk given by Sandrine Maub-eche, a Blue Badge guide, about the history of Longleat House and the Thynne family at the meeting on 13th June. Sandrine was a very entertaining speaker and kept members enthralled throughout her talk.
As usual the talk was followed by an opportunity to socialise with other members and to receive reports on recent events. The WI stand at Dilton Village Day had generated quite a bit of interest, and the ploughman’s lunches provided by members in the Memorial Hall were greatly appreciated by a large number of people on the day. Details were given about a number of forthcoming events to celebrate the centenary of the Wiltshire Federation of WIs were shared.
Although new members and guests were welcomed to the meeting, those present were extremely sad to hear about the recent death of a former member, Carol Scott.
On 11th July we will be holding our summer party in the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. A warm welcome will be given to all visitors.
