A LOCAL man is appealing for information to help track down the owner of a Rolls-Royce car, which he believes has been in Westbury for decades.
Historic vehicle enthusiast, Ian Sanders, has a photograph of a Rolls-Royce car outside a Westbury property in the 1940s, and he suspects that he saw the exact same car driving around the town last month.
Ian told White Horse News, “I’ve recently restored number 6 West End and managed to get hold of lots of historic photos of the property and surrounding area. Being a huge historic vehicle buff, I couldn’t help but notice the 1940s Rolls-Royce in a photo taken outside number 6 and 8 West End. Which is, I believe, taken around the 1940s.
“Jump forward in time to yesterday (Tuesday 27th August), I’m restoring another cottage outside Aldi on the Warminster Road, and, low and behold, I capture on dashcam what I believe could be the same car.
“I’ve seen it a number of times driving around, but only yesterday did I catch it on camera! I turned around to race after it, in the hope of showing the owner the old photo and having my curiosity hopefully satisfied, but got snarled up in the traffic and the Roller escaped me, again!
“I’m hoping it’s always been a local car passed down the family line and I am extremely interested to find out more about it. I could be wrong, but worth a shot.”
