A FORMER Westbury town councillor has called for a clampdown on dog fouling around the town.
Reacting to the news of the Wiltshire Police Dog Scheme that has been set up in response to fears of potential dog thefts, dog owner Ian Cunningham told White Horse News the real crime was dog fouling and the hanging of bags of dog faeces on trees.
Ian said, “The significant ‘real’ dog ‘crime’ that affects us all here in Westbury is dog fouling and, even worse and more prevalent, the hanging of bags of dog faeces in hedges, trees etc. It would be ‘nice’ if the police made few examples for that but I doubt it would ever be on their priorities.
“The police seem to confirm the view of many that the dog theft issue is primarily one of social media-based hysteria.
“Wiltshire police confirm that there have been no reported cases in Wiltshire this year.”
