DOROTHY House is offering a Christmas tree recycling service for the first time ever this year, and will collect people’s old Christmas trees for free in the hope of raising money for the charity.
Volunteers will pick the trees up for free but people will have the option to donate when they book their collection.
Community fundraiser Steph Cox said, “The thought of taking your Christmas tree to the tip or chopping it up is just a bit of a hassle. So this year, Dorothy House Hospice Care is offering a simple, green and charitable way of getting rid of your Christmas tree.
“With a team of volunteers, we can pick up your tree on 7th or 8th January. The trees will then be chipped, shredded and the chips recycled.
“This is a real community event where we will have local people volunteering their time and also vehicles to help load and dispose of the trees.
“We have several local businesses supporting the project alongside community groups, too. We hope the scheme will be a fantastic event with plenty of team spirit along the way.”
The collections are available in BA1, BA11, BA12, BA13, BA14, BA15 and SN13 postcodes. They are available to book online now at www.charity xmastree col lection.com.
The Christmas tree collection scheme is free, but when you book your slot, the website does offer the opportunity to make a donation.
