The Westbury Area Family History Group talk on Thursday the 23rd March is entitled ‘Eat Drink and be Merry in the 18th Century’ given by Mike Rendell.
Mike was fortunate enough to have inherited a treasure trove of papers and other memorabilia from hisĀ 4x great grandfather – everyday items ranging from shopping lists to diaries, and from recipes to newspapers, dating back to the early 1700s.
He wrote up his ancestor’s story as the “Journal of a Georgian Gentleman” and now gives talks around the country, and as a speaker on cruise ships.
On this evening he will be talking about food and drink in the 18th Century, with a look at Regency banquets. He will bring with him some of the family papers for a ‘show and tell’ after the talk.
The Westbury Area Family History Group meet in the foyer of the Methodist Church on Station Road at 7.15pm on the 4th Thursday of the month.
