The Friends of Victoria Garden are presenting a lively Bluegrass evening in All Saints Church Hall, Westbury between 7.00 and 10.00pm on Saturday 27th October. Foot tapping music will be provided by the seasoned performers, Dorset based band ‘The Bow-Legged Skeeter’. (Skeeter for those in the know is colloquial American slang for mosquito!)
The band has played in many venues in the South West and also at Naseby Bluegrass Festival earlier this year. The members are Pete Minkey (mandolin/vocals), Lindsey Cole ( bass/vocals), Richard Filleul (guitar/vocals), Tim Huxtall (fiddle) and Westbury resident and Friend of Victoria Garden, Mick Franks on banjo.
Helen Franks, organiser of the event said, “The Friends of Victoria Garden held a very successful Summer Barrow Fete in Victoria Garden in June, and we are delighted to bring another enjoyable and entertaining event to Westbury.
“All profits from the evening will go towards funding an information board to explain our aims and future events and to enhance the very special place in Westbury which is Victoria Garden.
“Tickets are priced at £8 per person which will include a cowboy supper of bean stew, followed by home-made apple pie. There will be a licensed bar with a selection of drinks.
