Entries are now open for the third Avon Valley Runners’ Wiltshire Half Marathon starting and finishing in Edington, and raising money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Runners are being urged to apply early to the event, which takes place on Sunday 30th November, as previous years were over subscribed.
This is an accurately measured and certified road race around the beautiful villages of Edington, Steeple Ashton and Great Hinton. The race starts at Station Yard, Edington at 11.00am and finishes in the same place.
Prizes, mementos and goody bags will be available on the day.
Race spokesperson Linda Ladner said, “As a group we love to run and have great fun organising the half as a way of promoting and encouraging others to become involved in our sport.
“We wanted to support a local charity as it’s a local event. Runners and their families can relate to a ‘close to home’ cause that some might even have had a personal experience of, apart from the fact that it’s a great charity.
“The feedback from previous years was wonderful. Participants noted friendly, fun and helpful marshals, and lovely scenery, through pretty local villages.
“For the first two races entries were full about ten weeks before, so we would recommend early registration. A few places are available on the day but very limited and obviously it’s first-come first-served.”
Feedback from last year’s race on Runners World included, ‘‘A race for runners, by runners” and “I absolutely loved this race. It was small, so easy to get in and out, no stress, no hassle, well organised by the most cheerful marshals ever. This is how it should be done. Well done guys, and I’ll definitely be back next year.” Further comments are available on the Runners World web site.
