WESTBURY community charity Crosspoint, which celebrated its fourth birthday in December, is looking to forward to an exciting 2016.
The charity, based in the Market Place, was founded in 2011, and offers local people help with aid, financial advice, jobseeking, and personal counselling.
Crosspoint chairman Len Clift said, “Over the four years we have been operational, there has been a constant flow of clients seeking our help, so much so that we have become almost like a family and a support system to clients who would otherwise be quite isolated.
“We are well known locally now, and we are encouraged by the support of the community and local council. Our next big venture will hopefully be a provision of services to young people and youth counselling.”
As well as offering food boxes to those in need, the charity now supplies clients with essential toiletries. Donations such a toilet paper and soap and shampoo are much appreciated, in order to help those on a tight budget.
Crosspoint also provides the free use of computers, internet and telephones, and the volunteers work alongside agencies to signpost clients to the services they most need.
Crosspoint seeks to help clients with debt and budgeting problems, through the advice and support of our trained Hope Debt Advice volunteers.
Crosspoint also offers a job club on a consultancy basis, to those clients wishing to have their CV created or updated. All are welcome to come in to the charity to make an appointment for this.
Alongside these services, Crosspoint also offers free and confidential counselling sessions to anyone who needs these.
Len continued, “Crosspoint could not continue this vital and much-needed work without the sacrificial giving of their time from its volunteers, as well as the financial support from churches and groups in the community.
“We are always on the look-out for volunteers; if you’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to volunteer some of your time, please pop in to collect an application form from the Crosspoint office in the Market Place.
Crosspoint is now open on Mondays 3.00-5.00pm, Thursdays 10am-12.30pm and Saturdays 10am-12.30pm. For more details go to www.crosspoint-westbury.co.uk or call 01373 824330.
