Westbury’s first Sunday Brunch event of the year proved to be a big success, offering food and drink alongside live music at the family-friendly event.
Stallholders, musicians and even miniature ponies came together in Soisy Gardens outside the town’s library on Sunday 27th April for the event, organised by Westbury Town Council.
Speaking at the event, town Mayor Jane Russ said, “Today has been brilliant. You get a real mix of people at the Sunday Brunches, and the demographic you see here today is much younger than people tend to think about Westbury.”
Wedding and events singer Brogan Pearce said, “I live in Westbury, just around the corner, so it’s been great to get involved.
“Recently, I’ve been focused on building my presence in the local music scene, busking across Wiltshire and performing at events like the Sunday Brunch. My goal is to bring joy and connection through music, whether that is at weddings, pub gigs or community events like this one.”
Artist Samantha Letailleur from Warminster said the turnout had been ‘amazing’ as she sold her ceramic coasters, tables and trays.
She said, “It’s a lovely atmosphere at these events; the music really makes it. Everyone has been really relaxed and chilled.”
The Westbury Choral Society also performed at the event, adding a touch of musical elegance to the occasion.
Younger attendees also had the chance to meet Tilly and Jammy from ‘A Million Memories Pony Parties and Therapy’, based in Warminster. The two ponies enjoyed cuddles and pampering throughout the day as they relaxed in the sunshine.
A highlight of the day was the arrival of Elsa and Anna from ‘Dreams That Glitter,’ who mesmerised young fans.
As well as the efforts of the town council staff, volunteers helped to make the day possible.
Phillip Westall, who was litter-picking, said, “This is my third year doing the Sunday Brunch. The friendly people keep me coming back. Westbury is really a nice area, and everyone is really welcoming.
“I come through from Lacock to do this; it’s definitely worth the trip. If you haven’t been to a Sunday Brunch already, I’d really recommend it.”
Sunday Brunches will continue monthly in Westbury on the last Sunday of the month, from 10am to 2pm, until 31st August.
