A former volunteer has returned to children’s charity Barnardo’s, but now as the manager of one of its newest stores.
Angie Devereux has just been appointed as the manager of the fundraising team at Palomino Place in Westbury. It marks a return to her roots as she was a volunteer at the charity’s Frome shop in the 1990s before running her own business.
Now she hopes to build on the success of the Westbury store and establish it in the local community.
Angie said: “I applied for Barnardo’s as I have a great fondness for the charity and wanted to do something which was meaningful and made a difference to people’s lives, and I’d recently volunteered at the Westbury store so I already knew about the amazing volunteers and customers.
“Looking to the future, I’d like to strengthen the feeling of community – I’m particularly keen to build relationships with local churches and other organisations. I’d also like to welcome more volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Every hour of support is sincerely appreciated.
“Most of all, I want everyone – staff, volunteers, donors and shoppers – to enjoy their time here.”
The Barnardo’s store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and on Sunday from 10am-4pm.
The team always welcome donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, CDs, DVDS, accessories and bric-a-brac. Call (01373) 822515.
