The Philomel Singers and the Dilton Marsh School choir, accompanied by Stephen Cooke, performed in All Saints Church in Westbury on Saturday 18th October and raised £200 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
This was a free concert with a retiring collection featuring a mixed repertoire of songs from traditional to modern. Children from Years 4, 5 and 6 in Dilton Marsh school sang under the direction of their music teacher, Mrs Emma Murray.
The children’s choir was invited by Michael Johnson, director of TPS, after their performance was judged to be “inspirational” at the recent Young Choir of Wiltshire competition in Devizes of which Michael is also the Director.
Secretary Fiona Wood said, “The whole evening was so enjoyable. The children’s choir from Dilton Marsh school were brilliant and showed such enthusiasm. They had clearly worked very hard with their teacher Mrs Emma Murray and it certainly showed in their performance.
“Our choir, The Philomel Singers, and the entire audience were hugely impressed and we are so pleased the evening was a great success and raised money for such a deserving local cause.”
The Philomel Singers are a female voice choir based in Trowbridge raising money for charities at three or four concerts a year.
