Friends of Victoria Garden held their popular annual cream tea party on Saturday 22nd June.
The party, held to raise funds for keeping the garden beautiful, was supported by many local businesses which offered raffle prizes, some up to £25.00 worth of gift vouchers and discount offers. Westbury artist Suzie Beauvoisin donated a landscape picture of the Somerset levels.
As guests tucked into their cream scones and cakes, many of which were also donated, they were entertained by “brave and talented” young singers from Matravers School.
“The tea party is such a popular and joyful afternoon with incredible music thanks to Matravers music teacher Mick Sorga. We are so grateful to all the shops, restaurants and hair salons which donated such lavish gifts to our raffle. Mayor Jane Russ picked out the first winning tickets. The volunteers work so hard to create excellent parties which are now well established in the Westbury calendar”, said Friends of Victoria Garden chair Tony Silman.
“We are already preparing for our next great event which will be an evening of swingy jazz, bluesy music and fun with Dr Zebo’s Wheezy Club, for which we provide a bar and people can bring their own picnic, rugs and lawn chairs. It is always a brilliant evening and will be held on Saturday 27th July in Victoria Garden, or the Secret Garden as it’s sometimes known.” Email fvgwestbury@yahoo.co.uk for tickets.
