AS the country prepares to come out of lockdown, Westbury Lions are stepping up plans for a number of events this year.
The local club has announced that the White Horse Vehicle Show, which is being organised in conjunction with the Trowbridge Lions, will go ahead on Sunday 5th September.
The club’s 10k run is scheduled for Sunday 10th October. And plans are already underway for the club’s ever-popular Christmas float.
Tracy Sheppard, Westbury Lions Vice-President said, “We are very busy organising one of the biggest car shows in the South West. There will hopefully be over 500 vehicles present; we also have a lot of entertainment and activities for the children. There will also be a food court with lots of variety for people to choose from. There will also be live music throughout the day on the main stage. We are very excited to bring this show to the local area.
“We are also organising the 10k run for Sunday 10th October. It was very successful the last time we ran it, not to forget organising the Christmas float which will be fantastic this year as a lot of people were upset that due to circumstances we were forced to cancel last year.
“Also, we are trying very hard to see if we can get a couple of car boot sales up and running before the end of the year.
“All in all we are going forward all guns blazing to get these events started up again. It has been a very hard year for everybody. Now is the time to move onwards and upwards.
“The Westbury Lions have still been active in helping the vulnerable and people in need in our community even though we have been unable to fundraise throughout this year. We are always here if people need us.
“We look forward to seeing everybody at our events and would like to thank the community for their continued support.”
