Campaigners against the Westbury Gasification plant are holding jumble sales and Recyclathons over the next few weeks around the area and inviting people to come along to snap up a jumble find and get involved in a fun way with the group.
On 30th March (11am – 1pm) the group will run its first Jumble Sale at Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall. “This is a great way to actually get stuck in practically with the group and people can donate and volunteer to help,” said Marie Hillcoat. “We all need to reduce, reuse and recycle and our Jumble will do just that. People can email chanttree@virginmedia.com to drop off donations.”
The second Jumble/Recyclathon is on 7th April (2 – 4:30pm) at Leigh Park Community Centre.
WGAG or Westbury Gasification Action Group is preparing to fight against the decision by Wiltshire Council to grant planning permission for an Advanced Thermal Energy plant on Northacre Industrial Estate.
The decision has been called in to the Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, and the group expect a ruling soon.
“A public enquiry is one likely result of the call in,” says the group. “There is already one set for September on the previous application which Wiltshire Council refused last July. Either way, the group will be campaigning against the incinerator which is not needed and in the wrong place, a small rural town set in a beautiful landscape.”
