WITH just under a week until Oktoberfest, the ales and largers are ordered and the entertainment has been announced, so make sure you have your tickets.
The festival, which takes place at The Horse and Groom on Saturday 7th October, raises money for local causes – this year the money raised will go to local youth groups and schools.
Bruce Hewitson, one of the organisers said, “Everything is coming together and we’re ready to welcome everyone to The Horse ans Groom for a fantastic day.
“This year we have The Bathampton Morris Men making a special appearance in the afternoon and well-known local band Stamp, will be playing an acoustic set in the evening.
“We have three classic German festival lagers; Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier, Paulaner Oktoberfesr and Augustiner-Brau Oktoberfestbier, as well as eight outstanding craft ales; Twisted Oak Old Barn, Dawkins Bristol Blond, Electric Bear Livewire, Arbor IPA, Stonehenge Danish Dynamite, Twisted Festival Ale, Yeovil Stargazer and Great Oakley Egret.
“And of course no event like this would be complete without Bratwurst, pretzels and other delicious foods as well. These will be served all day at modest cost.
“Tickets cost £7 and are now available from The Horse and Groom on 01373 859433. On the day you will collect your Festival glass and ticket for your first drink. Drinks are only available if you can show a valid ticket. Just a reminder, the event is not open to anyone under the age of 18.
“Like last year, all monies raised by barrel sponsorship will go to local good causes. Last year monies went to two primary schools, two Brownie packs, army cadets and, finally, the junior section of St John’s Ambulance Brigade – all here in Westbury town.
“If you or your company would like to sponsor a barrel for a good cause, please contact Bruce Hewitson on 07968 662 593. The cost of sponsorship will be £100 per barrel. Names will be displayed on the barrels if desired.”
