WESTBURY United are through to the semi-finals of the Wiltshire FA Premier Shield after putting four past Swindon Town – a club that sits five levels above them in the English football league pyramid!

United led 1-0 at half time and added three more in an exciting second half to earn a place in the semi-finals where they will face Swindon Supermarine FC. The semi-final will take place on March 22nd at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground at Royal Wootten Basset, kick off at 7.45pm.
Greg Coulson, Chairman of Westbury United said, “We’re absolutely delighted with the win! When we drew Swindon, we thought it was going to be a mountain to climb, but our lads made us so proud, and they were all superb.
“Swindon sent a young team but it’s still 11 against 11 at the end of the day and we did a brilliant job. We couldn’t have asked for more from the boys on the night!
“The youngsters that Swindon played were of a very high level, that was clear very early on as they had some really cracking players out there. We were just the stronger team on the night and took our chances.
“I have to mention, Swindon were excellent in the build-up to the game and really helped promote it in the media; we were on local news and everything, so it was a really good to get our name out there and they didn’t have to do that. We were blown away by the support of the only professional club in the county and want to make sure they are rightfully appreciated.”
