CHARITY golfers will be tee-ing off next month to raise money in memory of a Westbury wife and mother who died from cancer shortly before Christmas.
Gill Down, wife of Kevin and mother of nine-year-old Hannah, died in her 40s from bowel and lung cancer on 22nd December.
Now her friends and acquaintances are getting together under the name of Mrs Down’s Boys for a charity golf day to raise money for two organisations that helped her—the Bath Cancer Unit and Dorothy House Hospice Care.
There are still places available for the event which will be held on Friday 19th May at the Cumberwell Park Golf Club at Bradford-on-Avon, but applications need to be made as soon as possible. The cost is £200 for a team of four. Individual entries are welcome at £50 a head and they will be formed into teams on the day. It will be a Stableford competition with prizes. In addition, there will be on-course competitions also with prizes. The entry fee includes 18-holes of golf followed by a two-course dinner.
Registration is at 11am when coffee and bacon rolls will be available. Non-golfers are welcome to attend the dinner at a price of £20 each. The dinner will also feature a raffle and auction.
The funds raised will be shared equally between the Bath Cancer Unit and Dorothy House Hospice Care.
