A CONSULTATION into proposals for the improvement of train services on the Great Western rail network is currently under way and Transwilts Community Rail Partnership are asking for your support.
The group is encouraging the community to write to the Department of Transport to show their support for more trains on the line to Chippenham and Swindon and a later evening service, and for the joining up of services that would lead to regular half-hourly trains to Salisbury and Southampton, including a direct service to Southampton Airport Parkway.
Graham Ellis, community rail officer for Trans- Wilts said, “A consultation for the next GWR rail franchise is now under way, and the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership would like to encourage readers to write in to the Department for Transport – you can help us make a positive difference.
“There is a short link to the franchise consultation at http://twcrp.info/gwrf and my suggestions at http:// twcrp.org.uk/gwf_09.pdf.
“All a bit heavy, but if you can email in to GW consultation@dft.gsi.gov.uk in support of our answers to question 5 and question 8 that would be great.
“We have indications that we are pushing on an open door with the Department for Transport for an improved service this time around. We just need you to help us push.
“Thanking you in anticipation of you writing in, in support.”
