WESTBURY Active Retirement Club celebrated the start of their new programme of events last Tuesday with a lunch at the White Horse Country Park.
Members enjoyed meeting their friends at this new venue with a convivial get together and a chance to update each other with what they had been doing to pass the time during the Covid lockdowns.
The chairman, Bruce Hewitson, proposed a toast to the members, and to the future of the club, and then unveiled a programme of forthcoming events stretching as far ahead as the summer of 2022.
A varied programme of talks will include fascinating insights into the world of bees, insects essential to the success of humanity throughout the world.
Tony Coutts Britton is set to describe the build-up to the attack on Pearl Harbour which this December will see its 80th anniversary. There will also be talks on extraordinary animals, far off countries, and numerous other topics together with trips out, skittles and quizzes throughout the year.
Bruce said, “Why not come along to a meeting and see if you would like to join us. You will be most welcome. We meet at fortnightly intervals and our next meeting is on the 28th of September at the White Horse Country Park. We meet at 10am for tea or coffee and the meeting starts at 10:30am.”
