The May meeting of the Inner Wheel Club was held on Monday 14th at the Horse and Groom in Westbury.
Valerie Algar reports, “President Joanna thanked all members for their help in making the Fashion Show by Roman Originals held on 27th April such a success and stated that a cheque for £600 had been given to RICE (The Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly) from the proceeds.
“Also, a cheque will be presented to the chemo team at the White Horse Health Centre for ‘Hope for Tomorrow’ on 24th May from the money raised at the Bingo Night in April.
“President Joanna then reported on the previous weekend when some members of Inner Wheel, together with their Rotarian husbands, hosted visitors from the Rotary Club of Landerneau in Brittany, twinned with Westbury Rotary Club. A good time was had by all with the added bonus of fine weather!
“Our monthly pub lunch will be held at La Campagna, the new Italian restaurant at Upton Scudamore, near Warminster.
“Four members joined Shepton Mallet Inner Wheel club and other local clubs at Stourhead on 17th May to support the Prime Minister’s dementia challenge. A friendly skittles match between our club and Westbury Rotary Club has been arranged for Thursday 5th July at The Royal Oak at Corsley. The rota for cake-making for the Alzheimer’s Café in June was confirmed.
“Members were reminded that our next meeting on 11th June will be our AGM.”
