After the summer break, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Westbury attended their September meeting at The Chalford Hotel.
Sheila Buckton, club correspondent reports, “There was much chatter as we caught up with holiday and family news but also excitement as our President Pat Harper, together with club members, have an excellent programme planned for the coming year. We then enjoyed a very nice meal followed by coffee and mints.
“President Pat welcomed us back and read her report. This was followed by the Secretary and Treasurer’s reports.
“Pat informed members that she would like to support, as well as other charities, the Julia House Hospice for children with limited life expectancy. They have a hospice in Dorset and by 2017 hope to have set up another one in Devizes.
“Members agreed to support the Rotary Town Quiz to be held on the 18th September at The Laverton and the first big event on our programme will be the Fashion Show kindly arranged by Roman Originals to be held at The Laverton on the 16th October at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 to include a glass of Buck’s Fizz. This event will be in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“On the social side we are planning a Progressive Lunch to include the Rotarians sometime in November.
“It was with sadness that members said goodbye to Penny Pollock as that was the last meeting she would be attending. Penny, together with her husband Richard, are off to pastures new to be near family. Penny has been a very loyal and committed member since she joined Inner Wheel and will be very sadly missed. We wish her and Richard every happiness in their new home.
“Our next Meeting will be on Thurs. 1st October.”
