Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Westbury presented a cheque for £150 to Fran Lewis and Trish Judge in aid of SPLITZ Support Service, the Trowbridge based charity for Domestic Abuse and Independent Living.
The money was raised from a recent Collection outside Co-op in Westbury.
“We would like to thank all those people who donated so generously,” said member Reberta Buckton.
The May Meeting of Inner Wheel was held at the Chalford House Hotel. Following the meal President Pat introduced two guests, district chairman Carol Price and vice district chairman Kate Lewis. Following the welcome she lit the friendship candle.
Members were then asked to stand for a few moments silence to remember past honoured active member Mary Elkins, who had sadly passed away after a long illness.
Members were thanked for all their hard work in making our recently held Inter Club Tea Party a huge success. President Pat thanked Jean Heath and Sheila Carruthers for hosting the coffee morning in aid of International charities. It had been well attended and raised £75.
It was reported that the president, Joanna Earney and Sheila Buckton would be visiting the offices of SPLITZ on the 11th May to present a cheque for £150 which was raised from the recent street collection.
Notice was given of the District Rally to be held at Standerwick on the 14th July and also the District Meeting on the 20th June at The Haynes Motor Museum.
A letter of thanks had been received from the District Secretary Janet Fulford thanking members for the donation sent for her Sky Dive on the 8th May in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Also from the Nestling Trust stating our donation would help towards the building of 3 small health clinics in remote badly destroyed districts of Nepal.
Members were also thanked for the items given in that evening i.e. 1 blanket, 3 jumpers, ring pulls, stamps, spectacles and bottle tops. Volunteers were requested to cover 2 hour shifts at the Home Farm Festival in aid of “School in a Bag” which will take place during the week 10-12th June at Chilthorne Domer, Nr.Yeovil.
It was agreed to combine the monthly Pub lunch with the “Amble for Alzheimer’s” Walk around Warminster Lake area taking place on Friday 27th May. This will be followed by lunch at The Snooty Fox. Also taking place is an “Amble for Alzheimer’s” at Stourhead on Thursday 19th May where members will meet up with other clubs. Some members agreed to take part.
The Club outing to Iford Manor will take place on Wednesday 15th June. Following the business meeting district chairman Carol Price gave a most interesting and informative talk on her life and her involvement with Inner Wheel. She was thanked by the President.
