The organisers say, “For those of you who were not able to see Finnegan’s Wake in Westbury this year, this is a chance to catch up with them and also see the work that the Canal Trust is doing. All profits from this event will go towards the maintenance and restoration work of the Trust.
“Finnegan’s Wake play a lively mixture of jigs and reels plus many traditional Irish folk songs, which we can all join in. They also have a line of witty Irish banter all of which has audiences chuckling and tapping their feet in equal measure.”
Band members Frank Hackett on accordion and Mick Franks on guitar have been playing together for over six years. They started playing together because they have a shared love of traditional Irish music and songs.
Westbury resident, Malcolm Hitchinson, the chair of the organising committee said, “We are really pleased that Frank and Mick agreed to play for us. This is the first time we have put on a fund raising concert and we wanted a well-known and popular band to start us off, which Finnegan’s Wake certainly is. On the night, you will also be able to see a display of posters showing some of the work carried out by the local branch of the Trust.”
