ENTRIES are now open for next month’s Bratton Hilly Run, so if you haven’t already signed up, now is the time to do so.
The popular annual 11km race will take place this year on Saturday 13th May, starting and ending at the Jubilee Hall on Melbourne Street.
Over 100 runners took part last year on the scenic loop that takes competitors up the Port Way Hill, through Edington and back to Bratton.
This year’s running will be the 21st anniversary of the race, which is now run by the Jubilee Hall Committee in memory of race founder, Roger Broberg.
Organiser Val Witcomb said, “We are all looking forward to putting on this event which has proved popular over the years for its challenging terrain. We see the same people return again and again to try and better their own time, as well as competing against one another.”
A donation will be made from the race’s proceeds to Devizes children’s hospice, Julia’s House.
The time to beat this year is 39:40, a new record set by Sam Pictor, who last year ran the fastest time since 2008.
Entry costs £11 in advance or £13 on the day; runners can sign up in advance online or over the phone. Registration on the day is open from 9am to 10.30am and the race starts at 11am.
There will be prizes for the first three male and female finishers, for the first male and female teams, and for the winners in each category: M40+, M50+, M60+, F35+, F45+, F55+. All finishers will receive a commemorative water bottle.
