TIME is running out to book your place on Avon Valley Runners’ annual Wiltshire Half Marathon, which will take place next weekend.
Places are now available for the popular half marathon, which will embark on its usual route around Edington on Sunday 29th November at 11am.
Avon Valley Runners’ chairman Warren Wade is the race director. Warren said, “Preparations are going really well and we’re looking forward to the race. We encourage people to book their places early because it always sells out well in advance, and there’s usually a waiting list.
“We’re using the same route again because we get such great feedback from the runners. I think people like it because the event is organised by a running club, so we know what they like! Keeping the race small helps, too – we limit it to just 400 runners. There aren’t many small half marathons in the area, and it’s on a scenic route along quiet lanes, which people enjoy.”
The half marathon is a chip-timed road race which starts and finishes in Edington Station Yard, passing through Steeple Ashton and Great Hinton.
Avon Valley Runners was formed in 1986 and is made up of runners from across West Wiltshire. They will donate 50% of all proceeds from the half marathon to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
