WESTBURY Lions Club has welcomed a new president, Heather Blackley, who took over from the outgoing president, Geoff Curtis, at the annual handover BBQ last week.
Heather joined the Lions Club in August 2020, having relocated from East Lothian in Scotland with her husband Dennis in 2007.
“Both Heather and Dennis have made many wonderful friends within the club and across the multiple districts,” said Lion Geoff Curtis.
“Heather has been fortunate to attend the Lions’ training courses which have given her the confidence to step up to this role.
“With a passion for helping others, Heather enjoys serving our community. She has a particular passion for fundraising events, with a firm favourite being our annual Christmas float. She was also instrumental in setting up the Westbury Leos Club for Year 6 and older.
“Heather is keen to encourage new members to join both Lions and Leos to help make the community a better place for everyone.
“I’ve had a great team and wonderful Lions family around me this year. It is with great pleasure that I hand over to Lion Heather who I know will be a wonderful club president.”
