Westbury is set to come alive this month as the annual Westbury Festival is once again offering a great selection of live local music, tours of forgotten parts of Westbury and talks and performances from famous faces from TV.
There are 28 events taking place over the fortnight for people to enjoy from Monday 17th July to Sunday 30th July.
New to this year’s festival is a chance for Westbury’s schoolchildren to meet the famous author, Michael Rosen, which will be hosted by Matravers School on 24th July.
The TV star, broadcaster and survival expert John Hudson, known for his work on the Discovery Channel, will also be holding a talk at The Laverton on Thursday 27th July called Introducing the Survival Mindset, and there will be ‘A Bit Of The Fringe’ on Friday 28th July as the celebrity comedian Tom Houghton, seen on The Circle, Channel 4’s First Dates and Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, will be doing some live stand-up comedy at The Laverton.
He will be joined on the night by festival favourite, The Great Baldini and comedian Tom Veck.
The Westbury Festival is also holding events so you can learn more about the town you live in as there is a tour of the Army Officer Selection Board at Leighton House on Saturday 29th July and there will be a virtual pub crawl of the Westbury lost pubs of the past on Tuesday 25th July.
The festival will end this year with Gin and Jazz with the Gin Bowlers at The Laverton which will offer a night of quality swing music combined with a selection of different gins from the Still Sisters of Frome on Saturday 29th July.
