Local girl shines in Channel 4 drama

Lyra on the set of Patience

An 11-year-old from Bratton has landed a guest role in the hit Channel 4 drama Patience, travelling to Belgium to film her scenes.

Lyra Kane played Lola, a key character, in episode four of series two of the show, which aired on 15th January.

“I would say it was one of the best experiences of my life,” said Lyra. “Not just the being on set, but also travelling, hanging out with the other actors, the food, and the auditions process. I loved filming it and the people on set made me have a really, really fun time.”

Lyra secured the role following a long audition process in which she submitted multiple self-tapes.

“It was an interesting one because the character was autistic like me,” said Lyra.

“It was really fun doing the self-tape because I felt like it was nice to be acting as a neurodivergent character and the role represented me.”

“I loved working with the other actors, especially the ones who were neurodivergent because I felt like I could look up to them and they were great role models.”

Lyra also appeared as an extra in Netflix’s Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials which came out earlier this month. She hopes to continue acting and auditioning. “I’d love to be on a film set for the rest of my life!” she said.

“After the experience that I had on the set of Patience I feel that I have learned a lot more about acting and it has made me want to do lots more productions. I hope I get the opportunity to do loads of different auditions.”

Lyra was a student with ACTS Theatre Arts School in Warminster until July 2025 when her filming commitments took over.

Chris Turner Founder and Director of ACTS said, “Lyra was always a pleasure to have at ACTS Theatre Arts School.  It’s so nice to see our hard working, talented students getting recognised in the industry.  We’re very proud of Lyra’s performance in Patience and wish her the best for the future.”
