THE Westbury organisers of this year’s Mad March Mile fundraiser have chosen the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, the Grand Appeal, as the main beneficiary for the challenge.
People signing up for the Mad March Mile can run, walk or jog a mile each day, or cycle or swim, as long as it takes a similar amount of time as running a mile (about 15-20 mins).
The event this year is in memory of Hattie McConnell, who died from complications from birth. Hattie’s parents, Lou Cox and Jason McConnell, are raising money for the Bristol Children’s Hospital St Michael’s to help other babies and families.
Organiser, Sean Price, started the annual event with his sister, Gretchen Tucker, after deciding in 2014 to run a mile each day throughout March. They live in Westbury and invited others to join them, and the annual fundraiser has since grown in popularity.
The cost of entry is £12, which includes a personalised mug hand-made by Trevor Pictor of White Horse Pottery, with £6.50 going to the charity. Participants can donate additional money to the Grand Appeal by choosing not to have a mug on the entry form, or by choosing to make an extra donation.
