A man has been arrested following a police pursuit after a van was stolen in Westbury.
Police were called at 8.20am on Monday 16th July by the owner of the white company van, who reported that a man had jumped into the vehicle and driven off.
Police report, “A pursuit was authorised and the van was followed by officers through Warminster, and along the A36 and towards Wilton.
“A number of police cars, assisted by the police helicopter, tracked the van through Stratford Tony and Coombe Bissett and onto Homington Road.
“The van reverse rammed a police car, but crashed into a tree shortly afterwards.
“The driver left the vehicle and ran off from police, but was detained a few minutes later, at 9.07am.
“A 35-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and failing to stop for police. He is currently in police custody.
