The Mayor of Westbury, Cllr Jane Russ, has enjoyed a coffee and cake morning at Abbeyfield House sheltered housing scheme.
The house, on Bratton Road, is managed by the charity Abbeyfield Living Society, which oversees a network of care homes, sheltered housing schemes and independent living complexes for older people across the country.
Abbeyfield House was open to the public for the event to learn more about the services they offer, with the mayor in special attendance.
Cllr Russ took the opportunity to chat to the residents about their life at the house, and to hear from staff about the rewarding nature of their jobs and the challenges faced by sheltered housing providers in modern society.
Following the visit on Thursday 13th February, Cllr Russ said, “It was so nice to meet the residents at Abbeyfield House. It was a surprise to me that only one originally came from the local community. They have come from all over, and they are lovely!”
One resident said, “My son found Abbeyfield for me and my life has physically improved since being here.”
