CHRISTMAS seems to have come round again too quickly, perhaps that is because it has been yet another busy year in which Westbury has continued to offer free events, as well as supporting those who need our help.
For that help we must thank all the volunteers throughout the town who given their time to help at the churches, organisations, and clubs, and especially those who continue to give support and help at the much-needed Westbury Area Network (foodbank) and Abraham’s Kitchen, helping with packing and the deliveries. Also, the Westbury Link taking so many to the hospital or doctors.
You could also make a difference to your local economy by shopping in Westbury this Christmas. A warm welcome is guaranteed when you make the effort to support the businesses in our town. Westbury has a good selection of shops, offering a wide range of Christmas cards and presents. There is our local pottery, the new Little Boutique and Flower Hive, wool shop and charity shops, all offering something different to the chain stores.
Remember, gift vouchers can be purchased from a number of our local shops, as well as the vets, and all on our doorstep. Not only will the shopkeepers be delighted to see you, but the planet will be grateful for the lessening of your carbon footprint
Most of all, remember to enjoy the festive season, it is not a battle to be won or lost, but a time for simple delights.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and please keep safe and well.
Sheila Kimmins
Mayor of Westbury
