THE West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group, who currently operate from Broughton Gifford, are in search of a meeting room in the West Wiltshire Area.
The West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group are a voluntary group relying mostly on members’ subscription.
The group started life in 1982, when a railway show was held in North Bradley to see if there was sufficient interest to form a model railway group interested in modelling railways to the 0 Gauge standard of 7mm to the foot.
They have previously met at Neston Labour Club’s skittle alley, the Bromwell buildings in Broughton Gifford, Andil House in Trowbridge and Orchard Farm in Broughton Gifford, now leaving the group with no premises.
For several months now the group has been looking for suitable new premises in the Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury and Warminster area to accommodate the layout, which measures 15 metres x 6 metres, plus facilities.
The aim of the group is to encourage interested adults and children in railway modelling at a scale of 7mm/foot and also in the popular scale of 00. Current membership of the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group stands at 42.
Rod Towler, deputy group organiser said, “ We are looking for suitable accommodation to enable us to continue our aims and pursuits.
“The accommodation we are looking for can be a barn, chicken house or similar, with a wc and parking in the local area for the group.
“Alternatively, a piece of land which we could rent or buy, allowing us to build our own meeting room, such as a redundant mobile classroom or similar structure would be another alternative.
“Contact has been made with Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury town councils to see if any of the councils could help us. No premises that we can afford are available.”
If you have or know of any premises available, contact Rod on rodtowler@lineone.net or for more information about the group visit http://www. wwg0g.co.uk.
