WESTBURY’S Church of All Saints will continue First World War commemorations next month with a talk presented by Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Coutts-Britton.
The presentation will focus on the first two months of the war and will take place on Friday 12th September at All Saints Church, at 7.30pm.
The talk will recount the legend of the ‘Angels of Mons’, the Retreat, the ‘Miracle of the Marne’ and the First Battle of Ypres.
It is the story of ‘The Old Contemptibles’, the 80,000 man British Expeditionary Force whom the Kaiser branded ‘a contemptible little army’.
There will be a further talk on the 1914 Christmas Truce on Friday 5th December.

The cost is £8 per event which includes wine, tea or coffee and £14 if booking both talks.
