A WALK in aid of Lisa Wells will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday 11th March, and will see an army of walkers tackle either 7km or 20km starting at Westbury White Horse.
Frome mum, Lisa Wells was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal bowel cancer at the age of just 31 last October, just short of two weeks after giving birth to her second daughter, Saffia.
As well as dealing with chemo, caring for her newborn, and dealing with her daughter Ava Lily, 5, starting school, Lisa has mobilised an army of local supporters.
The group, referred to as ‘Lisa’s Army’ have stepped up to the mark by providing various ways to donate to Lisa’s cause including buying t-shirts and hoodies, wristbands, hosting fundraising events and spreading the cause on social media.
The spread of Lisa’s story has reached far and wide with celebrities such as Danny Dyer, Natalie Cassidy and members of the boyband 5ive sending their words of support. The local people of Frome and surrounding areas have got behind the cause and over 300 people, reaching the walk capacity, are now signed up to take part in the charity walk. Sainsbury’s in Frome have also donated 300 bottles of water to give out to the walkers.
As the walk has reached its capacity, no more registrations are being taken. However, if you would like to create your own fundraising event in aid of Lisa, visit www.lisasarmy .co.uk where you can register your event and download event packs including sponsorship forms and posters.
Also, if you would like to purchase a t-shirt, visit https://www.charityshirts. co.uk/products/lisas-army-t-shirt with all proceeds going to ‘Lisa’s Army UK’.
Alternatively, you can donate to Lisa’s JustGiving page at https://www.just giving.com/crowdfund ing/Lisa-wells-3
Why not visit the Westbury White Horse on Mother’s Day with your mum and help to shout and cheer on the army to spur them on to help Lisa achieve the legacy she wants to leave behind for her children.
