The vacant NatWest building on the High Street has been cleaned up by Westbury Town Council, as discussions continue about the site’s future.
The council’s Vision for Westbury sub-committee partnered with a local contractor to tidy the exterior and secured permission from NatWest to display images in the windows, enhancing the building’s appearance while its future remains under review.
Over the past few months, the committee has been in discussions with the current tenant, NatWest, the landlord, The Free Church Federal Council, and town council representatives Ben Griffiths and Ryan Child. These talks aim to explore the possibilities for the building, but no formal decisions have been made yet.
Mark Bailey, Chair of the Vision for Westbury sub-committee, said, “I am pleased that as part of our ongoing plans to improve the High Street, in line with the council’s vision for the town, we have been able to tackle the long-neglected former NatWest Bank building. This is another step towards making the town centre a more inviting place for people to visit and do business, and we hope it will benefit everyone in the town.”
Ben Griffiths added, “This work demonstrates Westbury Town Council’s commitment to improving the High Street and working with other shops, both new and longstanding, to make the High Street a more aesthetically attractive place to be.”
