Westbury Rugby Club is preparing for the season ahead with a new leadership team.
Taking the reins as club captain is long-standing member Mark Catley-Day, who steps into the role following the departure of Chris Pearce. Alongside Mark, the club also announced its new 1st XV captain, Niall Fagan; pack leader, Tom Redman (“Toby Reds”); and 2nd XV captain, Geoff Wheeler.
Mark, who has been a familiar face at the club for eight years, paid tribute to his predecessor:
“I’m truly honoured to be stepping into the role of club captain, taking over from Chris Pearce. First and foremost, I want to extend a huge thank you to Chris for everything he’s done over the years. He’s been a constant presence, a true leader, and someone I’ve looked up to since I first joined the club.
“My aim this year is to build on the incredible community we already have – to help make it even stronger, more inclusive, and more connected.
“Westbury is more than just a rugby club. It’s a place where people come together, support one another, and share plenty of laughs along the way. I’m committed to keeping that spirit alive, so that the next generation feels just as proud to be part of this club as we do.”
