Residents of Westbury have still got time to nominate their community’s most inspiring individual to be crowned winner of ‘Westbury’s Best Neighbour’ run by The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare.

To commemorate their two year anniversary, The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare on Warminster Road, Westbury has launched the competition to celebrate those who help make a difference within their local community.

Karen Coleman, funeral co-ordinator for The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare in Westbury said, “At The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare, we are true champions of supporting and getting involved with our local community.

“As it’s our funeral home’s second birthday, the ‘Westbury’s Best Neighbour’ competition is a fantastic way for us to showcase some of the amazing people we have here in Westbury who make a real impact within the town and to those who live here.”

Supporting and engaging with local communities is an integral part of The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare’s working ethos. Throughout 2014, The Southern Co-operative invested over £630,000 and provided 4,700 hours of volunteering time to its food stores’ and funeral homes’ local good causes.

Karen continued, “We’re hoping to see a broad variety of nominations – from the individual who helps out their elderly neighbour by picking up their weekly food shop or assisting with their day-to-day tasks, right through to those who volunteer their time to work with their local charities and community groups.

“Anyone who makes a difference to one, or multiple, people’s lives in Westbury are a candidate for the Best Neighbour title in our books!”

The winner will not only receive the entitlement of being ‘Westbury’s Best Neighbour’ but will also receive a bumper hamper of goodies from The Southern Co-operative with vouchers that can be spent in any of The Southern Co-operative’s food stores.

Nomination entries are now open for anyone who lives within the Westbury BA13 postcode area. The closing date for entries is Friday 15th April where the entries will be whittled down to The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare’s top 10 most deserving entrants, with the overall winner being crowned during the funeral home’s second anniversary on Friday 22nd April by a local dignitary.

To nominate someone for the competition, please send your name and contact details, with the name and contact details of the person you are nominating with a description of 100 words or less explaining why your neighbour is worthy of winning the prestigious title.

Nominations can be emailed to: westburyfuneral@southerncoops.co.uk  handed into the funeral home at The Co-operative Funeralcare, Warminster Road, Westbury, BA13 3PF, or those unable to complete in writing can phone call their nomination into 01373 858142.
