POLICE are asking the public to be vigilant following a spate of incidents involving air gun pellets being fired at people in the Westbury area.
A local resident was hit on the right thigh by a ball baring gun just after midday on Tuesday 27th May.
The victim of the attack, who would prefer to remain anonymous in fear of being targeted said, “When I was shot at, all I wanted to do was get away, but before I left I did look across to where it had come from and saw three lads sitting on the memorial green and one of them was laughing. A witness saw the gun but thought it was a water pistol.
“I went straight to the police station and then went back to the scene, I found the ball baring that had hit me and gave it to the police officer that was already on the scene but the lads had gone. Someone had told the police officer that they had gone towards Morrisons but nothing was found on the CCTV.
“It is important that people are aware of what happened, especially as it has happened before.
“I went to Westbury the next day but I felt very nervous about going past the spot where I was shot. I wore completely different clothes just in case I saw the lads, I didn’t want them to recognised me. If I had seen them I was going to phone the police but no one was on the green.
“I am an OAP and so scared it will happen again. These lads need to be caught before they do some real damage.”
