A WESTBURY neighbourhood came together last week to enjoy the sun at a fun day held in Oldfield Park by volunteers from local churches.
Face painting, a bouncy castle, tea and cake, crafts, and outdoor games were all on offer and well-enjoyed by local children.
Reverend Steve Jarvis, of All Saints Church said, “This is the fourth year we’ve run the event and it was one of the best attended ones; it was much busier than we expected!
“It’s really encouraging to see people turn out for the event. For us it’s about providing something extra for people to do, and we’re glad that people seem grateful that we do it.
“There’s not a lot to do for free these days and the summer holidays especially can be an expensive time.
“Most of the children are from the infants and junior schools nearby so it’s good to get everyone together and give people something to do for an afternoon!”
There is another fun day being held in Dilton Marsh recreation ground from 1pm on Wednesday 24th August.
The event was organised and run by Westbury Churches Together, alongside Persimmon Homes, Wiltshire Council, and children’s charity Spurgeons.
