THE Oscar Wilde classic, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ will be performed with a twist at this year’s Westbury Festival.
Told with energy and wit in a South African ‘Township’ style, two actors, Ayesha Casely-Hayford and Kudzanayi Chiawa, play men, women and even a vicar. A riot of love, confusion and high jinks, this show interrogates the absolute importance of being earnest!
Brought to the stage by Two Gents Productions, the show will be touring the UK before transfering to Tara Theatre in Earlsfield, London next February and March 2019.
Two Gents Productions is a theatre company based in London. Launched in 2008, the company aims to share energetic, bare-boned, South African-inspired style theatre and to give a platform to migrant and mixed heritage theatre makers.
The performance will be held at the Laverton on Friday 5th October at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10, and £8 for concessions (including 12 to 18-year olds). Visit the Westbury Festival website for more information: www. westburyfestival.org.uk
